Green Smoothies

Despite my constant posts on baked goods and hearty meals, I do eat relatively healthy throughout the week. For me, it is all about finding a balance between my love of sweets and giving my body what it needs to feel good and energetic. I don’t normally have time to eat a giant breakfast before work, so I often opt for a filling smoothie packed with healthy ingredients. These are two green smoothies I always have on rotation.

Ginger Orange Smoothie

  • 1 1/2 cup raw coconut water
  • 3 handfuls of spinach
  • 3 kale leaves, stemmed
  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 2 ripe frozen bananas
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger
  • Blend all ingredients together, I like to use frozen bananas to give the smoothie some thickness. If you are using regular bananas, add 1/2 cup of ice cubes

Avocado Smoothie

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 cups lightly packed kale or spinach leaves (I use green kale)
  • 1 piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 cup almond or coconut milk
  • Blend all ingredients together, if it feels too watery you can add some ice cubes a little at a time, but it normally has a pudding like consistency because of the avocado.
