I know it is over a month away, but after dreaming of this for most of my life I am so excited to finally be going on a road trip through New England to watch the fall foliage! This has been at the very top of my bucket list for a long time, yet somehow gets passed over every year. Daniel and I decided that this fall was the perfect time so we leave at the beginning of October.
I have a good idea of places I would like to see, but I would love to hear can’t miss recommendations as I have never been to most of these states. We are starting in Portland, Maine driving through the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, then off to various towns in Vermont and ending the trip in Boston. Fall is by far my favorite time of year (so basic, I know) and I think this will be a life changing trip. I can’t wait for October!
I try to pack a carry on whenever possible, which can be a challenge when it’s not all bathing suits and sundresses. I am the queen of overpacking, so I keep it simple. One pair of ankle boots, one pair of flats, and in this case my trusty Hunter rain boots (they are made to be packed by folding). I have read the weather can be a bit all over the place so I plan to bring a ton of layers like my favorite skull sweater, camel coat and fall inspired scarf.
I try and use a large handbag as a carry on and as my purse throughout the trip, I also bring a small clutch and cross body bag for long days or dinner. I can never leave the house without a hat or sunglasses, so I usually wear the hat on the plane. Lastly, I can’t travel without a candle (you never know what the hotel will smell like) This scent by Diptyque smells like firewood, perfect for fall! Please let me know your favorite New England jaunts in the comment section, I would love to hear your reccomendations!
