I am a big fan of taking some time to gift wrap presents with a little extra attention to detail, so when it comes to the holidays I like to go all out. This doesn’t mean gift wrapping has to be time consuming because I stick to a few basic styles and load up on options at the beginning of the season (before all the good stuff is gone.) The holiday season just lends itself to adding festive accents on presents and I like to take advantage of that. I incorporate fresh pine sprigs, red berry branches and mini pine cones. Not every gift has to have a fresh decorative item, some look great with a fun hang tag or simple ribbon.
In addition to decorative toppers, there are so many great options to add color and pattern with gift boxes and wrapping paper. Last year around the holidays I became obsessed with the Sugar Paper gift wrap collection at Target and this year it is even better. Their punchy red boxes with gold trim are perfect when paired with a thick plaid ribbon. I also picked up some of the blush boxes and blush wrapping paper. I like to add a bit of balance so everything isn’t red and I will use that color throughout the year. Other places with great gift wrap are The Container Store, Marshall’s & Home Goods and Rifle Paper Co.
In addition to mixing prints with my wrapping paper I like to do so with my holiday fashion. I love the rich plaids and colors this time of year offers. I got this affordable coat on Black Friday and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Other plaid coats I am lusting after are this, this and this.
