Saying Goodbye to 2016

Although the New Year isn’t until the weekend, I feel like as soon as Christmas ended I was ready for a fresh start. The holidays are a lot of eating, drinking, parties and gift giving.. I love it all, but it can be super exhausting. I usually choose not to make concrete resolutions, but I love New Year’s to reset my goals and priorities. Whether it be with my job, eating better or traveling more, I like to take time to write down what I want the upcoming year to hold.

Daniel and I recently watched the Netflix documentary, Minimalism and ever since I can’t stop thinking about it. I talk a lot about decluttering my life and trying to live simpler, but this documentary really showed the positive effects of choosing to practice a minimalist lifestyle. Obviously it is not something I can change overnight, but as we head into a new year I would like to be a lot more mindful of what I purchase, how I spend my time and how I live my life.

We have some fun things planned for 2017, including a trip to Hawaii in the late spring, but most importantly I want to take time to focus on my overall well being. It is so easy for all of us to get busy and stressed out and forget about taking time for ourselves. I want to try new exercise classes (recommendations always welcome!), invest in a bike and practice meditation on a regular basis. Even though I am already looking ahead, I look back on 2016 with so much happiness. This year I finally created my blog, started a new job that I love and moved in with my incredible boyfriend. Here are some of my favorite moments from this past year!
