This past weekend was unbearably hot in the Bay Area. We rarely reach temperatures higher than the 80’s and it was over 100 degrees. Cue the understandable eye roll from anyone who doesn’t live here.. I get it, but for us it was HOT! It was hardly a weekend to start thinking about fall, but Labor Day is a holiday for seasonal transition and has me ready to see summer go. With the lingering warm temperatures I can’t exactly jump into plaid shirts and boots everyday, so I like to make gradual transitions in my outfits and home.
I love long sleeve dresses all year round, but especially at the end of summer and fall. I prefer to have some sort of sleeve on most of my tops or dresses as I tend to get cold really easily and don’t always want to wear a second layer. I paired this inexpensive dress with my new favorite mustard yellow flats. The richness of the yellow suede was a much needed fall addition to an otherwise feminine and light dress.
I think texture plays a huge role in seasonal fashion. Although I used to associate the woven handbag look with spring and summer, I feel like it is here to stay all year long. I have been loving the look of using an actual small basket or a more tailored version of the causal woven bags that have been popular since the beginning of the year.
