This past Saturday went a little differently than planned. Daniel surprised me with a hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley for my birthday. I have lived in this area most of my life and have yet to go on a hot air balloon. I have talked about doing it so many times and never found the right opportunity, so needless to say I was very excited when I found out. We had to get up quite early on Saturday because they start the balloon rides in the early morning when weather conditions tend to be more mild. Unfortunately when we got there they ended up having to cancel the trip because they were worried about wind conditions. Obviously we were super bummed, but we are lucky enough to live close by so we can attempt again next month.
So we found ourselves in Yountville, (one of our favorite towns in Napa Valley) at 7am with nothing to do. Unless we spend the night we are very rarely up there that early, so it turned into a nice morning. Not much was open, but we walked over to Bouchon to get pastries and coffee and sit outside in the crisp morning air. It hasn’t really been feeling like fall around here lately with temps in the 80s and zero rain, but Napa always has the fall feel this time of year. The trees around downtown start to change colors and the subtle morning fog makes for a cozy morning. This is also an ideal time for picture taking as hardly anyone is out to block the shot and the lighting is fantastic!
I got my plaid coat at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale over the summer and was so excited to finally wear it. I live for a good plaid especially in the fall and the neutral tones pair so well with a camel colored sweater. Unfortunately the coat is sold out, but I have had my eye on a few other plaid options to bring into my rotation.
