My Cleaning Process

You all know by now that I am a clean and organized person, but my strong suit has never been deep cleaning. I absolutely loathe scrubbing the shower and taking everything off the shelves to wipe down, but it is definitely necessary every month. We don’t have cleaners come and a reader recently asked me to break down the cleaning products I use and my approach to getting a dirt free apartment, so here we go!

Probably one of the biggest things for our apartment is cleaning the air. We get the gorgeous natural light, but with a lot of light comes a lot of dust. We use this air purifier in our bedroom and this in the living room which makes a noticeable difference in the amount of dust and the overall indoor air quality. We bought them at different times and it is definitely more of an investment, but we live in an old building and my allergies are horrible so I find it helps a lot.

It is no surprise that my most used cleaning tool is also a Dyson product. I had my eye on this vacuum for a long time before I bought it, but after having it for over a year I can say it is the best one I’ve ever used. It doesn’t hold a charge for that long which is a little annoying, but I love how it works under furniture and in tricky places like next to the toilet. I use it on the couch and run the vacuum over the rugs almost every day because its so easy to whip out.

When it comes to cleaning products I often play around with different selections and try to be mindful of the ingredients. For everyday countertop spray I rotate between this and this which both smell amazing and don’t leave any sort of residue. I often buy the larger refill bottle and pour into these spray bottles. It can be cheaper and I can label the bottles with my label maker, making them all look very streamlined.  I also am trying to cut down on my paper towel use.. I know so bad, but baby steps. I started using these cleaning towels which I now embrace and love.

For bathroom cleaning I use the same brands and stick with the tub & shower cleaner, toilet cleaner, and glass cleaner. I also love this mop because you can use whatever floor cleaner you want. The last step in my cleaning process is to make sure our apartment smells good. I love using a linen spray on our bedding and sofa. A lot of you have also recently asked about diffusers in lieu of candles. I always have a diffuser in the bathroom and will link a few of my favorites below!
