My Daily Beauty Routine

I am a true hoarder when it comes to beauty products and constantly find myself cleaning out the medicine cabinet or the shelf in the shower that is overflowing with different shampoo’s. With the new year I have made it a goal to stick to a routine and stop buying products before something is completely empty. Over the years I have tried so many skincare products, hair products and makeup that I now have a curated arsenal of items I use on a daily basis. I find myself buying all of these over and over again because in a sea of products they stand out above the rest.

When It comes to my skincare routine and my beauty routine in general I like to keep it simple. I prefer a few quality products that feel great on my skin over a plethora of items that only treat one area. Even at twenty six years old, I have noticed a lot of subtle differences in my skin from a few years prior and I like to take preventative measures. Most of these products I use on a daily basis with the exception of the face mask (twice a week on my face and neck) and the lip polish which I use on heavy rotation as needed in the winter.

Every morning and evening I wash my face with this cleanser. I used to vigorously scrub my eye makeup off at the end of the day with a makeup wipe and it left my face looking red and swollen. This cleanser removes all dirt and makeup with ease and smells so fresh. In the mornings I follow it up with this face spray and lightweight face oil. For the evenings or when my skin is feeling especially dry I apply a heavier moisturizer all over my face and neck. I have talked about this creme in the past, but it has been my go to for over a year and I don’t plan on replacing it anytime soon (I actually look forward to putting it on!)

Next I apply a few dots of eye cream in the morning and evenings. This is the first area of I have noticed getting light wrinkles and small dark spots, but this cream has made the fine lines less viable. Occasionally I still get breakouts so I always like to have a spot gel handy and this works wonders. I just dab on a small amount to the affected area and it minimizes redness and eventually clears up the area completely.

My hair care can depend on what color it is, but for the most part I use the same products across the board. I have been using Ouai Shampoo and Conditioner since my friend Alex recommended it a year ago and I love it! It it so moisturizing, but still manages to feel lightweight. This is crucial for me because my hair is so thick, I hate anything that leaves it feeling greasy or heavy. Most days I don’t style my hair (unfortunately not a coolness factor, I’m just lazy and always in a rush in the mornings), so I prefer to brush it out with detangler and air dry with a few pumps of a wave enhancing spray. Again, Ouai makes the best one I’ve found where it gives the hair a nice bounce and volume. Every morning I also run a little shine cream through the strands to make my hair look and feel softer.

On the rare occasion I style my hair I use this tapered curling iron and this hairspray which I will never replace because it leaves no residue and actually holds my style for a long period of time. When my hair is feeling dry and lifeless I love using a nourishing hair mask to restore the color and shine. Occasionally I will also rub coconut oil through my dry ends, twist it up in a bun and wash it out in morning which has helped a lot when I’m in between hair cuts.

When it comes to makeup on a daily basis I am even more minimal than my skincare. After my face is cleansed and moisturized, I apply a small amount of this primer to help smooth everything out and then dab a few spots of concealer around my nose and under my eyes. I blend with my fingers and then add a couple dots of foundation and smooth out with this brush. I use bronzer year round because I have very fair skin and it helps me look a little less like a ghost. I have used Laguna by Nars for years because it blends into the skin so well and looks very natural. Lastly I fill in my eyebrows. I didn’t do this until a few years ago which was a huge mistake because I have naturally very thin and uneven brows. I don’t go overboard when filling them in, but just take a little powder and make them look a bit fuller and darker.

If I am going out I like to step up my makeup game a little. I love the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay because there are so many eyeshadow options in the copper and rose gold range which look best on my skin tone. Next I apply a smooth eyeliner, curl my lashes and top off with my favorite mascara ever (I have probably tried hundreds of mascaras and nothing even comes close)!  I then apply a bit of a rosey blush to the apples of my cheeks. I have used this since high school and the coloring is so pretty and natural on my skin tone. Lastly I throw on a little lipstick. My collection of Nars Lipsticks is a bit out of control, but they last so long and have my favorite range of colors. Dolce Vita is one of my favorite everyday options, but I also love Heat Wave, Roman Holiday and Barbarella.
