Hale’s Apple Farm

It really does feel like another day, another tragedy lately. This time is hits extremely close to home with the horrible wildfires raging all over Napa and Sonoma counties as well as many other areas in California right now. I grew up in Novato, right on the border of Sonoma County and that whole region has always felt like my home away from home. I am devastated by the vastness of these fires and the amount of destruction and lives lost. I had this post scheduled for today, but because Hale’s Apple Farm is located in Sebastopol (Sonoma County) I didn’t feel right not addressing the fire.

I know that it seems like everyone is asking for donations every other day for some sort of relief effort, but even a small donation can make a huge impact. It is going to take a long time to come back from such a crushing disaster, so I am sharing this website, which has a couple of different ways you can help out. I have already donated to the Red Cross and plan on going up to Santa Rosa this week to help in any way possible.

Hale’s Apple Farm is one of my favorite fall stops. I love that they have a small apple orchard and a large pumpkin selection all in one place. You can’t actually pick the apples at Hale’s (I just haaaad to get some staged photos) they are all pre picked and available for purchase on site. To be honest, I have gone apple picking a few times and while it can be fun I usually just end up wasting a ton of apples because they want you to buy the crate so this works out better for me. What I really love at Hale’s are the pumpkins! We’re talking every type of pumpkin you could imagine, from miniature to giant and all of the different color variations.

This place isn’t huge, its more of just a roadside stand, but it makes it so much easier than going to a pumpkin patch and an apple farm separately. They also have an area inside where you can buy giant freshly cut sunflowers. Do note that Hale’s is cash only, so come prepared as there is no ATM in sight.

I am thinking of all of you affected by these horrible fires and I really would love to help in any way possible, so please let me know if you or anyone you know need anything at all!
