I feel like this is the longest I have gone without posting since I started my blog back in 2016! It is hard to believe it has been almost ten years since Harlowe James began and how much has changed since those early days. I know blogging in itself might seem antiquated with the rise of Substack and more focus on social media, but I will always love this platform and sharing snippets of my favorite things. Obviously since having Augie back in September, my life has changed drastically, but five months in I feel like I am settling into a groove and finding my new normal. I realized how much I missed this space and sharing inspirations in general. It feels like second nature at this point, if I find something I love I want to post about it! While this space may never be exactly as it once was, I am excited for a fresh start. I am excited to bring vintage pieces back to the shop starting next month and to share more about the pieces in our new apartment as it slowly comes together. It has been nice to have a personal project to work on and create another cozy space for our family. As always, thank you so much for being here!

I get asked about Augie’s rug all the time – it is a perfect neutral and so soft!

Happenings at home
Eventually I will share more of a home tour and the bigger picture of what is going on in our new space, but for now I have slowly been adding furniture to our larger living room. We still live in a small home, but with the addition of a more formal living room I needed all new furniture. I have used the Willoughby Sofa from Anthropologie for client projects before and love the classic roll arm design because of the great price point. It is hard to find a really well made sofa for $2,500 these days and this checks all of the boxes for me. It is chic and the deep seat makes it incredibly comfortable! I went with the 89″ length in the stocked Montauk Performance Linen fabric in Talc. That makes it cheaper and it arrives faster. Plus I wanted the performance fabric anyway with a black cat and a baby. I also needed a larger rug for in here and didn’t want to spend a million dollars on that either, so I went with another classic – a braided jute. It instantly added some much needed warmth and texture. It is very soft under foot and the thicker braid provides nice cushion. Like any natural fiber there is some shedding, but I found it to be very minimal.
I am taking my time with everything and adding more vintage finds which always helps elevate any room, but I have also been finding some gems at Zara Home. I got this classic coat rack since we no longer have a dedicated entry space with a good spot for wall hooks. I also love their baby hangers for Augie’s room and their cute accessories. With a new season (and new home) always comes a new scent. Lately, I can not get enough of citrus notes, which make me so happy! Cire Turon’s, Salta is heaven- it is so layered and feels like a summer vacation on an Italian island! I have also been loving the new Palm Beach candle from Hudson Grace. So much more to come, but in the meantime you can see more of my home links on my ShopMy page as well!
I’m so glad you’re still blogging! It’s a little treat I always look forward to.
