I am so happy to be writing this post because it means I finally got it together and organized our bedroom closet. This has been a long time coming as we have been in our apartment over two years, but one of those annoying things I kept putting off. I went back and forth for a while with what I wanted to do because we are in a rental and I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in a fancy closet system. Our bedroom closet was always very dysfunctional, especially because Daniel and I share it. It was just one long rod with a lot of wasted space above and below with no real storage for folded items, shoes or heavier pieces.

I looked at a bunch of closet systems online and almost bought something at Ikea, but last minute I decided I didn’t want to spend that much money. I ended up going with two middle units from Home Depot and using the hard to reach space (blocked by the wall) for stacked hanging rods on each side. The finished result looks like a custom built in and I was able to assemble and hang everything by myself. On my side I opted out of shelves and removed the middle piece to have long hanging storage for my dresses and skirts. Daniels side is all shelves for his folded clothes, hats and shoes.
