Girls Getaway to Sonoma

This past weekend I had the absolute best one night getaway to Sonoma. I am trying to be better about taking advantage of the fact that we live so close to wine country. I used to go all the time, but as life has gotten busier I haven’t made one night trips as much of a priority. My best friend is getting married next year about two months before me so our first stop was her wedding venue, Chateau St. Jean located in Kenwood. She lives in New York now so it felt very special to walk around the property together and see it from the point of view of a wedding venue. Chateau is a stunning property with so many spots to sit and relax. I highly recommend purchasing a bottle of wine and sitting out in the rose courtyard or by the bocce court for more shade. Glen Ellen and Kenwood are my favorite parts of wine country because I find it a lot less hectic than Napa. There are so many great stops off the 12 (highway) including my other favorites B.R. Cohn and Kunde.

Where We Stayed

If you are traveling to this area and want to stay overnight, I highly recommend the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. This property epitomizes wine country and incredible hospitality. The staff is so friendly and helpful, especially if you are new to the area and want to get a better layout of wineries. My favorite part of the property is their famous spa where you can swim, lay by the pool, get treatments or just sit in the mineral baths and steam room. We fully embraced our stay with a leisurely day by the pool and floating in the Watsu Pool. Some rooms come with spa access or you can purchase a daily pass to utilize all services. I already told my mom I want to go back for a spa day as soon as possible because I have not relaxed that much in a long time. I am already having withdrawals!

You can’t really go wrong with any stops you make in Sonoma wine country. We were only there for approximately 30 hours and had so much fun taking our time at our favorite wineries instead of trying to hit up a bunch. If you are visiting from out of town I recommend hiring a car for the hours you think you will be hopping from winery to winery or just use Uber. We were able to get an Uber or a Lift with no problems, but it was a Thursday and waits can be much longer on a busy weekend. If you are local I encourage all of you to head up to the Fairmont even just for the day to relax by the pool. If you are ever visiting the area do yourself a favor and book a night there, it is so peaceful!
