Ah, April.. It is officially Spring, which means lilac season is finally here. I look forward to giant bunches of fresh lilacs every year and once April rolls around our local farmers markets and flower mart are filled with this perfectly light scented floral. Lilacs have long been one of my favorite flowers mostly because the way they fill a vase is so effortlessly elegant. Although I will always love white lilacs, you can’t go wrong with all of the purple hues as well. When I was in high school purple was my favorite color, but over the years I have pulled away from using it too often. Lately I can’t seem to get enough – with my eye on everything from gorgeous slides to pretty tablecloths. If you can’t get lilacs in your area or they aren’t quite available yet, two of my favorite spring candles have lilac notes and they feel so seasonally festive. Porte de Lilas also has notes of rose and jasmine and this special Jo Malone combines sweet lilac with a subtle rhubarb sharpness.
