Bedroom Essentials

Last year I posted on my bedding basics, but I realized some things have changed since then so I wanted to update. I get a ton of questions on my bedroom – from my headboard to what sheets I prefer, so I thought this would be a good time to dive a little deeper. We have had this classic linen headboard for a few years and I really love it. We went with a headboard opposed to a bed because we have a really tight space. At some point I will upgrade, but this has held up wonderfully and I love the linen color. It is definitely a true natural color – not white and not oatmeal. For the base I used a simple metal bed frame which attaches to the headboard and then added a linen bed skirt to cover the base.

I also wanted to note our woven bedroom shades are by Blinds.com. We have the Bonaire Flaxen Color. You can shop your custom blinds here.

My Go To Duvet Covers

Pottery Barn
TENCEL DUVET COVER

I have shared my love on Tencel before, but I really can’t get enough! It is so incredibly soft. We started with the sheet set and then got the duvet for Christmas. One of the biggest questions I get is which do I like better – this or the linen? They really are so different and I switch off between both all year long. If I haaaad to choose I would say this one because it really is that soft.

Serena & Lily
LINEN DUVET COVER

I have tired a lot of linen bedding and this is my favorite! The subtle stitching detail adds just enough interest and it actually fits the duvet inner. It gets so much softer as you wash it more so don’t be alarmed if it feels a little rough at first.

*for our king pillow shams I use what coordinates with the duvet I have on

All The Accents

Parachute
Cloud Cotton Quilt

Our latest addition is one of my favorites! this is incredibly soft and is reversible. We have the Natural/Ivory combo which works perfectly at the end of our bed!

West Elm
LINEN EURO SHAM

I have had these simple Euro shams for years and recently decided to put them back out. I love having two euros instead of more decorative pillows to keep it looking fresh.

*we use these Euro size inners

*For our actual sleeping pillows I use these from Coop Home Goods (which are great for neck pain) and for the front pillows I use these with firm density.

Duvet Insert

We recently upgraded to this down alternative duvet inert because I have bad allergies. We chose the medium weight which is the perfect mix of fluffy without being too warm in the summer months.

Pottery Barn
Tencel Sheet Set

We switched to this sheet set a few months ago and I honestly will never go back. They are the softest sheets and I am so excited to get in to bed every night. Daniel is also obsessed and that is saying something!

H&M Home
LINEN BED SKIRT

A perfect clean bed skirt that is light enough so it doesn’t look too boxy. I love how it hangs.

Jo Malone
LINEN SPRAY

I hate any stale air and I love our linens to smell super fresh. This is my go to linen spray because it isn’t overly perfumey and smells very fresh!

Do you normally use linen bedding in the warmer months? I love the textured look of linen, but am wondering if it’s suitable for cooler temps.. Thank you for this helpful post!

  2. Chelsea says:

Hi Chrissy! Did you opt for the valance or no valance on your blinds? Hard to tell in pictures! Thank you 🙂

Hi! I love your window dressing!! So chic but still practical. Do you mind sharing what color woven wood you went with for the wood shades? I can’t figure out how the color swatches would look from the Blinds.com website. Thank you so much. xxx

Hi! I’m obsessed with my white bedding and love yours but I’m curious how you keep it bright white? I feel like I wash everything constantly but they have become dingy looking pretty quickly. Any tips? Thanks!

    • Hi Anna!

It definitely depends on the bedding type. For some reason I have found some of my Percale yellows much quicker than others. I use the Whites Detergent duo (will link it here) every other wash or so and always wash my bedding completely on its own. I have found this has helped keep it looking fresh longer. Hope this helps!

This is a great post. I would love to see a video on how you make the bed with these. I am going to order the linen spray, bed skirt and I think the quilt but I’m never sure how to fix our bed to make it look good.

    • Thank you so much Stephanie! I definitely need to do some sort of bed making video, but my trick is to fold the duvet down and then fold it over again towards to the pillows. It makes it look nice and fluffy!

I love this so much! What size is your bed and sleeping pillows?

  7. Trudy Montoya says:

    Hi Chrissy,

Which pillows are the ones shown in your photo and where do you store you “real” pillows that you sleep on? Lol!

    • Hi Trudy!

The pillows we sleep on are just behind the Euro pillows that you see in the front. The pillows shown in the photo are linked in the post where it says West Elm Linen Euro Sham – hope this helps!!

Thank you for this! It was very helpful. I was actually wondering if you used a bed frame as I was looking into purchasing the headboard after seeing yours. Love your bedroom and overall style!
