Lampshades are no longer a purely functional accent placed on top of your lamp, sconces or chandelier, but a chance to dress up an otherwise plain light fixture. Even if your lamp isn’t boring, adding a cool shade with texture or pattern can be a fun way to completely change the overall look. I will spend more money on a shade than an actual lamp, which can seem counterintuitive, but I love swapping shades around to different lamp bases and dressing up an antique store or Target find with a chic shade.
