Getting Festive

This past week we got our Christmas tree and I started to decorate our apartment for the holidays. I always forget how instantly cozy all of the lights and fresh greens makes our home feel. I know the holidays will be incredibly different this year with a lot less family time and gatherings, so I wanted our apartment to feel extra special – even with the smallest touches. I will do a post sharing how I decorate, but as with every year I prefer fresh accents over a lot of decoration. I have mentioned this before, but we simply don’t have the space to store a ton of Christmas decor. I veer towards pine garland and wreaths, clementines, pepper berries, branches, pomegranates and pears. Fruits and greens bring out so much seasonal color and texture and I always find they layer so perfectly with holiday accents.

As for special accents, I always like to bring in a new festive scent. This year I tried the St. Nicholas candle from SOH Melbourne. Not only is the deep green vessel so beautiful, I LOVE this scent. It is very layered – think fresh pine with a touch of spice, so it isn’t overwhelming or too sweet. I also finally got this platter from Jayson Home. The scalloped edges dress up anything that goes on it and even though we will not be entertaining, I can’t wait to fill it with Christmas cookies. As this year comes to an end and we enter yet another lockdown I am savoring this quiet time and looking forward to making new memories at home. I am also looking forward to sharing more holiday posts this week so stay tuned. Have a wonderful Monday!
