I mentioned on Instagram last week that I wanted to share more of the design process with our new apartment. I often wait until rooms are finished to photograph and share, but by that point a lot of the pieces I selected are sold out and it almost feels like too much information to bombard you with at once. Also this is another rental, hardly our forever home so there isn’t as much design as there is temporary solutions to make this feel like our home for the next few years. Unlike our last place I definitely don’t have carte blanche here, but things like painting and changing out light fixtures always makes such a big impact. While I will always love beautiful photographs and styled vignettes, lately I have been so drawn to unpolished content. So I am hoping to show some of the more messy in between moments while spaces come together.
We recently painted the living room Pointing by Farrow & Ball and after two coats it looked VERY yellow in our space. Even after brush outs, with whites in particular you never really know until the whole room is painted. Paint is SO specific to your space, sun exposure, trim color – the list goes on! Which is why it can be so difficult to choose. I had some extra Wimborne White from our bedroom and kitchen so I had the painter apply that as the top coat and it really helped to brighten up the look of the yellow and give it more of the cream I was going for. I absolutely love how it turned out, but just another reminder that paint is a process even when you have a lot of experience with it and a good reminder you can always mix colors!
As I post more about the new apartment I get a lot of link requests so I finally updated my ShopMy pages and organized everything by room, making it very easy to find. Of course a lot of pieces are antique or FB Marketplace so I can’t link everything, but I always try and add a similar option with that noted. I also moved all of the pieces from my old apartment that didn’t make it to this space under the tab Previous Apartment at the bottom.

Before & After: Instantly feels warm and inviting opposed to cold and dingy. Can’t wait to add window treatments, more furniture and art

I am loving my new lantern pendant that instantly made the little breakfast nook in the kitchen much more charming. The quality is SO good, like truly comprable with some much pricier options. Can’t wait to get this space finished so we can utilize it more. I also ordered a new full drop linen tablecloth to throw on this table when hosting!

Reminder what this space looked like before with yellow walls and wood upper cabinets and after a fresh coat of Wimborne White on the Walls and Simply White on the upper cabinet. Much better with the addition of an antique table and custom cut rug, but waiting on the banquette, art, dining chairs and styling on the counters and shelves!
Another In case you missed it: I put together The Spring Shop sharing many of my seasonal favorites for the home and your closet. Six months postpartum, I definitely needed to add some new pieces to my wardrobe instead of fighting to fit perfectly into all of my existing and being a bit bummed with them not looking the same, so I will also be sharing more of those with an emphasis on a mix of high and low. I have been loving the spring pieces from Quince because of the great price range.
